A Florida State University and University of New Hampshire research team has published a new study that looks at how one important nutrient source, dissolved organic phosphorous, is distributed through the global surface ocean where it is consumed by phytoplankton.

Florida State University President Richard McCullough announced Tuesday that Stacey Patterson will serve as the university’s next vice president for research. Patterson, a microbiologist, has served as the vice president for research, outreach and economic development in the University of Tennessee system and as president of the UT Research Foundation since 2017.

A Florida State University student has been named a John Robert Lewis Scholar, the Washington-based Faith and Politics Institute announced. Rawan Abhari, a rising senior from Ft. Myers, Florida, is one of 10 scholars selected from a field of more than 105 applicants from across the country.

FSU researcher receives NSF grant to investigate shooter bias

A Florida State University researcher has received a grant from the National Science Foundation to study the role of threat in what is termed shooter bias. Assistant Professor David March from the Department of Psychology — part of the College of Arts and Sciences — is focused on how processes often operating outside of our awareness affect attitudes that drive behavior.

FSU chemist wins prestigious American Chemical Society award

A decorated Florida State University chemist has received another prestigious award from the American Chemical Society. Igor Alabugin, a Distinguished Research Professor with the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, was selected by the Florida chapter of the ACS to receive the 2022 Florida Award in recognition of his contributions to the chemistry field.
