About the college

The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest and most academically diverse at FSU, encompassing 200-plus major programs of study and approximately 11,000 students. Arts and Sciences faculty and graduate teaching assistants deliver nearly 50 percent of all undergraduate credit hours at FSU annually, both through major coursework and fulfillment of general education requirements. By graduation, nearly every undergrad will have taken at least one course in the college.

Three of FSU’s most populous majors — biology, English, and psychology — are housed in the college, and it’s also home to FSU’s fast-growing undergraduate major in neuroscience and a brand new interdisciplinary master’s degree program in data science. Across departments and majors, the college’s average student to faculty ratio is a fantastic 22:1, which means students get individualized attention within a large, public-institution environment. College faculty also bring in nearly $65 million in research funding annually.

Among the 100,000 Arts and Sciences alumni are nationally known meteorologists, Pulitzer Prize winners, heads of state and governmental leaders, university presidents, educators, pioneering scientists, business owners and more.
