Biological Science, Program in Neuroscience

Job ID: 58694

The Department of Biological Science at Florida State University invites applications for TWO tenure-track Assistant Professors in Neuroscience. These positions offer the opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive community within the Department, and the broader, multidisciplinary Graduate Programs in Neuroscience, Molecular Biophysics, and Cell and Molecular Biology. Our collaborative environment is designed to foster the development of an outstanding research program in neuroscience while contributing to the education and mentorship of the next generation of scientific leaders. We are particularly interested in candidates with a research focus in the following two categories:

  • Chemosensory/Systems Neuroscience with a focus on investigating chemosensory processes, ingestive behavior, neural circuitry, or gut-brain interactions in vertebrates or other model organisms. Preferred expertise in advanced techniques such as large-scale neural recording (e.g., electrophysiology, imaging), and/or behavioral assays with neural manipulation (to link neural circuits to behavior) is highly desirable. We are seeking collaborative preceptors to join our longstanding (>30y) NIH Chemosensory Training Program.
  • Cellular/Molecular Neuroscience focusing on synaptic structure, gene regulation, stem cells or disease mechanisms. The ideal candidate will have expertise in investigating neural circuits, glia biology, neuroimmunology, development, cellular and/or molecular functions and utilize advanced, cutting-edge in vitro and/or in vivo techniques. We are seeking new colleagues that would complement existing specialties in epigenetics, development, drug addiction, circadian biology, and aging.
