Arts and sciences grads to be honored at Dec. 14 commencement ceremony
Florida State University President John Thrasher will preside over the fall commencement ceremony honoring College of Arts and Sciences graduates, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, 505 W. Pensacola St. Arts and Sciences will share its ceremony with graduates of the colleges of Communication and Information, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Education, Fine Arts, Law, Medicine and Social Work.
Pamela Perrewé, Florida State’s 2018-2019 Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor, is the featured speaker. Perrewé is a pioneering business administration professor and has earned an international reputation for her research in business and human resources management, particularly related to job stress, coping and organizational politics.
About 2,600 students are expected to graduate this fall, with more than 1,900 participating in the Friday ceremony and another Saturday, Dec. 15. Of that number, 1,978 will receive bachelor’s degrees, 517 will receive master’s degrees and 108 will receive doctorates. The College of Arts and Sciences will have 635 undergraduates, 90 master’s students and 65 doctoral students earning their degrees.
