Entrance closure: Follow detour signs to Advising office
Falling debris from an exterior fire-escape stairwell has resulted in the closure of the main entrance to the College of Arts and Sciences’ Advising office at 010 Longmire Building. The stairwell has been determined to be a safety hazard, making nearby parking spaces and an adjacent sidewalk a hazardous zone as well. The university has cordoned off the sidewalk, redirected foot traffic, and completely closed the door from Advising to the parking lot on the north side of Longmire.
All students visiting the Advising office are now asked to use to one of the three entrances on the building’s first and ground floors, and then proceed to the stairwell or elevator as needed. All handicap-accessible traffic are directed to use the ramp on the parking-lot side of the building near the College of Music amphitheater and then cross to the entrance facing the Westcott Building. Signs will also be placed within the Longmire Building to assist in directing students, and there are structural signs on the exterior of the building.
