Alexandre J. Chorin, a professor of mathematics at the University of California-Berkeley, is the invited speaker for the 2009 Sir James Lighthill Distinguished Lecture in Mathematical Sciences. The lecture will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Alumni Center Grand Ballroom at 1030 W. Tennessee St. A reception will begin at 3:30 p.m., and the lecture itself will begin at 4 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
