Russ Franklin was born in Eastman, Georgia. He earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in mathematics and physics from Mercer University and a doctorate in English from Florida State University, where he was a Kingsbury Fellow in writing. Russ also was named a Wallace Stegner Fellow and Truman Capote Fellow in fiction writing at Stanford University. His most recent novel, “Comic Hotel,” was published in 2016.

He is married to Amy Franklin, and they have three children. Russ and Amy live in Tallahassee.
